FLAGSHIP PROGRAMME

Eastern Dooars Elephant Corridors: Supporting Right of Passage

SPOAR works to understand changing movement routes, strengthen local preparedness and keep corridor conservation grounded in field evidence.

WHY CORRIDORS MATTER

Elephant corridors are living routes.

Elephant movement is shaped by memory, season, food, water, disturbance and the changing character of the landscape. Where movement routes narrow or shift, risks can increase for both people and elephants.

Conservation planning must listen to the landscape as it changes.

FIELD APPROACH

Monitor. Prepare. Collaborate.

Monitoring

Field signs, maps, photographs, GPS and repeated visits.

Community response

QRT and PRT engagement, preparedness and practical awareness.

Institutional liaison

Stakeholder dialogue, issue escalation and realistic interventions.

PRIORITY LANDSCAPES

Five recurring corridor landscapes.
